The swivel seat from Benchcrafted is the perfect solution for working seated at the workbench. Many detail tasks like chiseling dovetails, creating inlays, or fine carving are best done in a stable sitting position. The workpiece is closer to your eyes and chest, helping you to work more precisely and comfortably. The swivel seat is also great for taking a short break to check emails or grab a quick bite to eat.

Free-standing stools can quickly become a nuisance near the workbench. They can get in the way when you stand up to check your work, and it’s easy to trip over them. The swivel seat is always ready. Simply swing it into the desired position and sit down. When you’re finished, just stand up and give the seat a slight nudge with your leg—it will disappear under the workbench!

Versatility
The swivel seat is not only suitable for use in the workshop, but also in the kitchen, dining room, a bar, or a restaurant. You can easily clean the floor under the seat since it doesn’t touch the ground. Once you’ve mounted the seat, you can’t change the height. The swivel seat is mounted with two 12 mm wood screws, or with 12 mm bolts and nuts, depending on what you want to attach it to. (The screws for mounting are not included, but your hardware store should have something suitable.) Further technical information on mounting the swivel seat can be found in the instructions below.

Quality
Just like Benchcrafted’s vises, the swivel seat is designed to be very robust. The metal parts have no practical weight limit when it comes to the people sitting on the swivel seat. In other words, the swivel seat supports everyone, regardless of being light or heavy. However, since the seat cantilevers from the surface it’s mounted on, you need to consider what you attach it to. A free-standing piece of furniture, for example, could tip over, depending on its construction, weight, and the weight and activity of the person sitting. Please refer to the further details in the instructions. The swivel seat can swivel slightly more than 180°.

Variants
There are two versions of the swivel seat. If you’re a woodworker or upholsterer and want to make the seat yourself, you can purchase the swivel seat without the wooden seat. We also offer a version with a 25 mm thick wooden seat with a diameter of 279 mm. This is carefully crafted from oak and coated with chestnut brown lacquer. You must mount the wooden seat yourself. It is attached with three wood screws. All you need for installation is a Phillips screwdriver. Both versions of the swivel seat come with the wood screws for attaching the wooden seat—whether your own or the one provided.
