This mortise chisel functions like an adze but is somewhat shorter, and the sides of the chisel taper towards the back. The edge is completely straight, with a bevel only on the top side. The backside is flat. Since the chisel is relatively wide in relation to its length, this mortise chisel is well-suited not only for smoothing wood surfaces but also for debarking. The slightly oiled ash handle is 300 mm long and, aside from a tapering in the front area, is 40 mm thick, making it suitable only for two-handed use. The total length is 460 mm.
