Product information
The socket chisels from MHG are relatively large and are suitable for carpentry work due to their robustness. The bevel has a primary grind of 30°, with an additional micro bevel that slightly increases the angle. This micro bevel is only about 0.5 mm at the front of the cutting edge, which is sufficient. Since you don’t have to hone the entire bevel, you save time with each sharpening session. The larger bevel angle also prevents chipping, especially when struck hard with a mallet and when levering. The two handles are made of ash and oiled. The steel has a hardness of 61 HRC and is finely ground, but as always, we recommend honing on a fine water stone (from grit 3000). The side bevels extend to the back, which allows for precise work in corners when making deep incisions.
