Initially, we were skeptical when these extremely affordable Japanese planes were offered to us. Could there be reasonable quality at this price? We had some of the small bench planes from this product line tested by carpenters – all praised the quality of the iron highly. It is easy to sharpen and holds its edge very well. The wooden block is somewhat rustic and requires some finishing. The irons are forged from two layers of steel.
These handy little planes, affordable and well-made, assist in many specialized tasks where other tools cannot help. A great addition to your other Japanese tools!
For many delicate tasks, small hand planes are indispensable. Japanese hand planes are not ready to use and require some adjustments by the user, especially some reworking of the plane mouth is necessary.
