The Large Carving Axe (Sculptor’s Axe) by Gränsfors is used for wood processing and shaping. The axe was developed in collaboration with master craftsmen Wille Sundqvist and Onni Linnanheimo and is inspired by old models. The Large Carving Axe has a relatively long edge.
In addition to the model with a double-sided symmetrical grind, the axe is also available with a special, more one-sided ground edge. The grind is either on the right or left.
The carving axe with the left grind has a wider, more pronounced edge on the left side of the blade and a shorter counter-bevel on the right side.
For the carving axe with the right grind, it’s exactly the opposite.
The wider, straighter bevel (grind) on the wood-facing side provides particularly good support when carving.
The surface of the handle is wavy, offering a lot of friction for a firm grip.
Delivery of the axe/hatchet includes a leather edge protector.
