This tool transforms a scraper (either a flat steel or a burr steel) into a proper cutting tool. Turners who are accustomed to working with the burr accidentally created while grinding on the grinding wheel are amazed at the difference a clean burr makes. After grinding on the machine, the burr created during grinding is removed by pulling the iron over the sharpening stone with the flat side (mirror side) facing down. Subsequently, a burr is raised using this burnisher. Depending on the pressure you apply, you will have a smaller or larger burr.
Two 25 mm long carbide rods are included. One is ground at a 10° taper for turning scrapers with a bevel of 70° to 75°, the other at a 5° taper for bevels of 75° to 80°.
Since this burnisher (when clamped or screwed down) allows you to use your entire body weight as leverage, burrs can be raised even on HSS irons, which is not possible with other burnishers.
The application is simple. An instruction manual in English is included in paper form. Here you can find the instructions in German! Suitable for standard size turning tools and miniature turning tools.
The body is made of aluminum, the round support rod is made of steel, and the two rods for raising the burr are made of carbide. Length 114 mm, width 67 mm. Made by Veritas!
