Blade made from Suminagashi, the Japanese variant of Damascus steel, featuring a particularly pronounced layer pattern. The „Mokume” pattern, the relief-like strong expression of the transitions to the next steel layer, is a specialty of Tasai and in its perfection unmatched by any other smith. The cutting layer is made from TASAI Special Blue Steel, a custom-made steel exclusively for Tasai. The handle is made from sandalwood. Single hollow ground „Ura” on the backside.
Master Tasai works in Sanjo, Niigata Province.
