Product information
JessEm once again steps off the beaten path with its measuring tools and enters functional new territory with this precision square.
This square combines the functions of a try square, combination square, carpenter’s square, and saw guide. The shape corresponds to a right triangle with a stop on one leg. The edge of the other leg is equipped with a millimeter scale.
Adjacent to this scale is a groove equipped with notches to quickly and easily mark lines parallel to an edge with a (mechanical) pencil, ballpoint pen, or similar tool. Next to this groove, parallel to the stop, there is another groove with a scale, whose zero point lies at the edge.
The hypotenuse opposite the right angle has a degree scale for measuring angles. To mark a saw cut, for example, the square is placed against the workpiece with the stop edge and pressed at the pivot point. The other end is rotated away from the laying edge until the edge and desired angle are congruent. The marking can now be drawn.
Since the reference right angle is to the stop edge, the complementary angle results. Example: 30° at the workpiece edge/hypotenuse results in 60° at the leg.
To enhance both (repeat) accuracy and work speed, JessEm has realized the patent-pending angle stop: With a thumb press, the brass locking knob releases from its parked position and can be slid to one of the 11 notched angles, where it securely snaps into place. After completing the task, simply release it with a button press and let it snap back into the neutral parked position!
Parallel to the degree scale is another groove with two scales for rafter cuts, the upper for hip-valley rafters (HIP-VAL) and the lower for common rafters (COMMON).
Primarily made from hardened stainless steel 301, the square features etched and laser-engraved markings on both sides, ensuring durability even with daily use. This guarantees that the readability, as opposed to merely printed scales and numbers, lasts practically a lifetime. With its matte finish, it is glare-free and very easy to read.
The stop, reliably fixed with stainless steel screws, is made from matte black anodized aluminum that is subtly chamfered at the edges and features a practical grip recess in the middle area. It also impresses with its width, providing stable support, for example, on a machine table.
The square is equipped with a patented flexible tab (Flex Grip). This features a special roughening that provides secure grip on practically any surface that is softer than the steel of the ruler, even with surprisingly little pressure. This means: No more slipping when marking or scribing!
Integrated spirit level, enhanced visibility of the vial from different positions thanks to an additional cutout on the underside of the stop. Carrying a separate spirit level is often no longer necessary.
In addition to the innovative and functionally compelling features that serve to increase productivity, this square also scores tactilely and visually: Matte stainless steel combined with matte black anodized aluminum and brass. Pure understatement!
