Product information
Straight edges are used to check surfaces for flatness and straightness. They are made from hardened special steel and feature a tapered measuring edge. However, this edge is slightly rounded to prevent it from being too fragile and to ensure it doesn’t cut. To avoid reflections, the ruler is glare-free blackened, but this means it is not rust-proof.
The ruler is placed with the measuring edge on the surface to be checked. In backlight, a light gap can be seen in case of unevenness, which indicates whether the surface is flat or not. Under favorable lighting conditions, one can see a light gap significantly smaller than 1/100 mm.
The mere presence of a light gap indicates a certain deviation from the straight line. The degree of deviation can then be determined using a feeler gauge.
Accuracy/flatness of the edge according to DIN 874 GG-00 = 3/1000 mm. To prevent distortion of the measuring edge from hand warmth alone, an insulation made of grippy plastic is attached to the upper edge.
Delivered with a plastic tip protector in a faux leather case.
