These flat stops provide a wide surface for the workpiece. This is particularly helpful for thin or narrow workpieces. The rails are made of anodized aluminum, are 32 mm (1-1/4 inch) wide, and project only 5.6 mm (0.22 inch) above the workbench, allowing for the processing or planing of workpieces that are only 6.3 mm (1/4 inch) thick without any restrictions. They also offer a reliable stop for workpieces that are too narrow to clamp between two adjacent bench dogs.
The two steel shafts fit into holes with a diameter of 20 mm and can be shifted in the T-slot on the underside of the rail. The maximum distance (center to center) for the 248 mm long rails is 229 mm (9 inches). The shafts of the 445 mm long rails can be pushed apart up to 425 mm, and those of the 641 mm long rails up to 622 mm. With a length of over 600 mm, the long rails span the entire width of most workbenches. If necessary, they can be shortened.
For tasks such as planing, where force is applied only horizontally in one direction, a single stop is sufficient without additional clamping. Two stops can be arranged at right angles to each other so that two edges of the workpiece are in contact. These stops provide a simple way to hold workpieces without the limitations of conventional clamping methods.
