Product information
Very comfortable wooden handle, aggressive, fast cut, easily resharpenable, the base of the blade is slightly curved for better power utilization. Teeth designed for cuts across the grain. Blade thickness 0.8 – 0.95 mm.
The hand saw, commonly known as a „Fuchsschwanz” or „handsaw,” is widely used for quick cuts—depending on the tooth geometry—either across or along the grain of the wood. Since the Fuchsschwanz has no reinforcing back, the saw blade is made thicker than, for example, back saws to maintain its rigidity when sawing on push and to prevent the blade from bending. The thicker blade, together with an appropriate set of the teeth, results in a relatively wide cut. The term „set” refers to the alternating bending of the teeth, which makes the cut 20–50% wider than the actual thickness of the saw blade. This prevents the saw blade from binding in the cut. Thanks to its specialized design with optimized tooth geometry—manufactured either for cross or rip cuts—the Fuchsschwanz allows for fast and powerful work. The cut pattern is rather coarse.
The saw from THOMAS FLINN in Sheffield, England is resharpenable.
