Product information
This is a sophisticated bench dog! Whenever you need it, simply press down on it and it pops out of the workbench, locking into the upper position – with about 8 mm (5/16 inch) protruding. It’s ready to be used. When you’re finished, just press down on the bench dog again, and it disappears into its hole, waiting for you to bring it back out.
If you’re using the bench dog in a through-hole, it’s held by a steel retaining plate attached to the underside of the workbench. A rare-earth magnet at the bottom of the bench dog keeps it securely fastened to the plate. If you need the hole in the workbench for another purpose, you can simply swivel the plate aside and remove the bench dog. For use in a blind hole, discs with the appropriate hole are included, which you can attach at the bottom of the blind hole.
The body of the bench dog is turned from solid brass. It’s rust-free and gentler on your tools than steel. The 2° inward-angled clamping surfaces securely hold your workpieces. The bench dog is suitable for holes with a diameter of 19 mm (3/4 inch). The spring mechanism is adjustable for depths from 51 mm (2 inch) to 63 mm (2-1/2 inch). (Deeper holes can be easily shortened with a suitable piece of wood.)
If your workbench’s top is only 50 mm thick, you can use this bench dog with a washer under the retaining plate.
