This natural Nagura stone is used to create a sharpening paste on the surface of the whetstone to refine the sharpening pattern and give the stone a higher grip. Only a few movements on the stone are needed for this—the sharpening paste should not be too thick. The Nagura stone is applicable on all whetstones of medium to fine grit. It fulfills its task on both artificial and natural whetstones.
The stones are relatively uniform and mostly rectangular. However, since each stone is individually cut, sizes and shapes may vary slightly.
