Together with the miniature shooting plane 308040, it forms an almost unbeatable team when it comes to shooting small-dimensioned end grain, as is common in model making.
The main body and fence are made of laminated wood (plywood) to minimize any potential warping. The fence is guided in a precisely fitting groove and is fastened with two screws. It is conceivable to attach a custom-made fence with any desired angle at this point, making the shooting board usable for Kumiko, for example.
A further fence is attached to the underside of the shooting board. When the workpiece to be processed is pressed against the fence with the left hand, the shooting board finally stops at the edge of the table. Once fixed in this manner, the shooting plane 308040 can be moved smoothly back and forth.
The running surface is made of anodized aluminum, which is profiled to minimize friction. The sliding properties can be further improved by applying a dry lubricant to the plane and running surface. The support for the plane can be adjusted from 17.0 to 18.5 mm.
