Veritas has designed this hand holder for bits to securely hold the standard 1/4 inch hex bits. Inside the chuck, there is a magnet that holds the bit in place until you tighten the chuck. Once the chuck is tightened, the bit is held firmly without rattling. The socket is just under 16 mm deep, making it shallow enough for the standard 25 mm long bits, yet deep enough to securely hold longer bits.
The shaft and the handle are connected in the same way as with Veritas chisels, using a tang and a bell-shaped ferrule. However, in this bit holder, both are made of stainless steel. The handle, made of heat-treated maple, has a triangular shape. This design is both secure and comfortable to grip, while also preventing the hand holder from rolling off the workbench.
The hand holder is 162 mm long without the bit, and the handle has a diameter of 32 mm. It will surely become one of your favorite tools in no time.
