Gränsfors axes are sold with a vegetable-tanned leather blade protector. Vegetable-tanned leather contains no heavy metals and is biodegradable. Gränsfors Bruk has deliberately decided against the use of chrome-tanned leather because we believe it is not environmentally friendly enough.
The blade protector is available in various designs, depending on the axe model.
