Blade made from Suminagashi, the Japanese version of Damascus steel with a particularly pronounced pattern of layers. The „Mokume” pattern, the relief-like strong expression of the transitions to the next steel layer, is a specialty of Tasai and in its perfection unmatched by any other smith. The cutting layer is made of TASAI Special Blue Steel, a special production made exclusively for Tasai. The handle is made of sandalwood. Single hollow grind „Ura” on the backside. This type of chisel in its wider version can easily replace a smaller adze and is ideal for reworking and smoothing many wood joints.
