Kataba-Saw cross cut Craftsman Series by Master Daizo Mitsukawa Blade Length
170 mm 25 TPI

Product information

This traditionally crafted series of relatively small saws is primarily intended for artisans. The saw blades are fully hardened, allowing you to perform a variety of very clean cuts on smaller workpieces. To make it easier to distinguish between the different toothings, symbols on the handle indicate their intended use. These saws are featherlight and, in addition to their high utility value, they are also a delight to the eye.

Daizo Mitsukawa was born in 1961 and lives and works in Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture. He is among the younger sawmakers in Japan and continues the tradition of his father, Juntaro Mitsukawa.

In addition to traditional professional saws for everyday craftsmanship, Mitsukawa produces a high-end series that is almost exclusively handmade. These saws are used in Japan for the restoration of significant shrines and temples. The use of an industrially manufactured saw is prohibited out of respect for the historical object.

Through his work, he makes an important contribution to the preservation of Japan’s cultural heritage. All saws by Mitsukawa are not suitable for beginners!

Why is not every Japanese saw suitable for beginners and trainees?

Most Japanese standard saws are made from band steel. The expensive professional saws are all through-hardened.
