This drilling template, in its complete setup, allows for the easy creation of precise dowel joints. The interchangeable drill bushings, which cover three common dowel diameters and can be swapped as needed, are made from hardened steel, ensuring durability.
Depending on the requirement, up to two sets of three corresponding holes can be drilled in sequence per adjustment. This drilling guide allows for the realization of three different wood joints using dowels:
- Corner joints (e.g., cabinet carcass)
- T-joints (e.g., shelf)
- Surface joints (e.g., tabletop)
The contact surfaces of the drill guides and the pressure pieces of the clamps are covered with a soft, non-slip material. This not only protects the surface of the workpiece being processed but also prevents slipping. The position of the adjustable clamps depends on the type of joint to be created. Thus, boards can be clamped both horizontally and vertically.
The JointPRO™ dowel drilling template essentially consists of two parts, the main body and the auxiliary clamp. Their interaction significantly contributes to comfortable and targeted work, ultimately resulting in an end product with an accurately fitting, stable dowel joint.
The total weight of just under 1.6 kg suggests that this well-thought-out dowel guide, made primarily of metal in its main components, is far from a toy. Instead, it is an extremely robust workshop assistant that quickly proves its worth.
