Product information
Shinsui Nakaya began his apprenticeship as a sawsmith at the age of 15. After more than ten years of training, he founded his own saw manufacturing company at the age of 26 and now – at the age of 76 (in 2014) - looks back on 62 years of experience in saw making. He lives and works in Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture.
Traditionally, in Japan, when a workshop is founded, the name of the master is incorporated in some form into the company name of the founder, and he continues to exert influence in the following years. Shinsui Nakaya decided that 10 years of training is enough and has used only his name as the company name since its founding over 50 years ago.
He developed his own oil-based quenching method, which is applied after forging and significantly reduces the risk of bending and the occurrence of cracks.
Handmade, forged blade, each saw individually aligned. One set of teeth on this saw is for cross-cutting, the other for rip-cutting.
