The rigid design of this Sashigane displays only the 10 and 5 digits on the front, making the readability even clearer.
The two scales on the long leg of the backside save you some calculations. If you place the upper scale of the backside against a cylinder or circle, you can read the side length of a square inscribed in that circle. If you place the lower scale of the backside against a cylinder or circle, you can read the circumference of the circle.
On the long leg, the outside is beveled, and the profile is slightly hollow ground. The short leg features a trapezoidal profile with the narrow C-side inside. Both profile designs serve to prevent freshly applied scribe lines from smudging when moving the angle.
