Product information
Indexable insert cutters are used wherever high repeatability is required. This is not the case with a regular cutter because each resharpening removes some material, causing the cutters to become slightly smaller in their dimensions. When an indexable insert becomes dull, it is simply replaced with a new one. Indexable insert cutters are especially worthwhile with frequent use of the router because they save you setup time as well as the cost and trip to the sharpening service. Particularly with cutters that have a guiding ring, such as flush trim bits, it is important that the cutting edges always align with the guiding ring. This is only guaranteed in the long term with indexable insert cutters, whereas with a regular flush trim bit, you will already have a – albeit minimal – offset after the first resharpening. Another advantage of an indexable insert cutter: hidden metal parts in the wood, such as nails, can render a regular cutter unusable. In contrast, with an indexable insert cutter, you only need to replace the inserts.
Some indexable inserts have more than one cutting edge, so they only need to be rotated. They are only replaced once all cutting edges have been used. Click on „Sketch” or „Image” under replacement indexable inserts to view the inserts.
The indexable insert shank cutters on this page are suitable for all types of wood and wood-based materials. The inserts are made of carbide. Manufactured by Sistemi Klein in Pesaro/Italy.
