Carbon steel blades are easier and better to sharpen than stainless steel blades. This is particularly important when mowing grass. Do not hammer the blades of these sickles under any circumstances! Use a Japanese water stone for sharpening, such as a sickle sharpening stone or combination sharpening stone with a handle. Store these tools in a dry place and oil them if they will not be used for an extended period!
