Product information
Veritas developed these flush-cutting chisels inspired by historical model-maker chisels from its collection. They are not only suitable for trimming joints and inlays flush but also allow you to work on flat surfaces up to adjacent components, which is often not possible with planes. While you push the chisel forward with one hand on the handle, the other hand guides the blade. This allows you to comfortably steer the chisel and take controlled fine shavings.
The blades made of PM-V11 steel are very thin. This makes the tool lighter, but also means that your fingers are close to the workpiece, allowing you to feel it well.
The connection between the handle and the blade is threaded, differing from the tapered socket connection of the historical original. With the help of this thread, you can quickly and securely connect the heat-treated maple handle to the blade and easily detach it again if you want to change the blade.
The blades are available in widths of 12.7 mm (1/2 inch), 19.05 mm (3/4 inch), 25.4 mm (1 inch), and 38.1 mm (1-1/2 inch) individually. You really only need one handle unless you have the unique ability to use more than one chisel simultaneously. The handle is also available separately.
This handle can be easily screwed into the angled ferrule of the Veritas flush-cutting chisel blades. This way, you can quickly and easily switch the handle between different blades. When assembled, each chisel is about 299 mm long.
