This traditionally made Kataba is universally usable as it is suitable for cross, rip, and diagonal cuts. Its suitability for cuts in all directions is thanks to a special raker tooth that interrupts the otherwise consistent tooth pattern every 2 to 3 cm. You might wonder why you would still need rip and crosscut saws when both types of cuts can be performed with one saw. The answer is clear: single-purpose saws are always better suited for one specific purpose than multipurpose or universal saws. The crosscut with the crosscut saw is cleaner than with the universal saw, and the rip cut with the rip saw can be accomplished significantly faster than with the universal saw. If these characteristics are not your primary concern, a universal saw is entirely sufficient for all 3 types of cuts. One more note: these saws are not for beginners.
