This tool holder can be used with any electric or hand-driven grinding machine that has a tool rest. Insert a tool into the holder, slide it against the stop pin and one of the clamping screws to align it at a right angle, set the cutting edge’s protrusion for the desired bevel angle, and tighten the clamping screws. Now the tool is positioned at a right angle and in the correct position for the bevel angle in the holder. To sharpen the tool, slide the holder back and forth on the tool rest so that the cutting edge touches the grinding stone.
The rear plate is recessed to allow shorter chisels, such as Japanese chisels, to be clamped. The brass clamping screws feature nylon washers to prevent seizing. The other parts are made of hard aluminum. Anodizing makes them even harder, effectively counteracting wear. High-friction strips ensure that the tool is securely clamped and not accidentally moved.
The holder fits perfectly into the groove of the Veritas tool rest (see article above). However, with the help of the edges, it can also be used with other tool rests.
