VERITAS Straight Edge
A straight edge is extremely useful for setting up machines such as planers and jointers and to check the flatness of plane soles or waterstones. This solid steel bar is of extreme accuracy. It has both edges precision ground flat to within 0.001 inch (0.025 mm) over the entire length. Available in 3 sizes. Its weight ensures it will stay in place while you make any adjustments. Vacuum heat-treated to ensure that all residual stresses are removed and the straight edge remains true on both reference edges.
The 12 inch straight edge is a handy size for checking things such as plane soles or water stones for flatness. It is also a good choice anywhere a larger straight edge would be unwieldy in use or would risk damaging the item being checked.
An invaluable aid for machine set-up, the 24 inch straight edge is a good size for setting up stationary machines such as planers and jointers. At slightly more than 2 lb, it weighs enough to stay in place while you make adjustments.
Great for long-bed jointer and larger machine set-up, the 36 inch straight edge is a good master shop reference. Weighing a substantial 5-3/4 lb, it is 3/8 inch thick. The linished sides give a textured surface that makes the straight edge easier to grip with confidence.
