Product information
These dowel cutters can be used in two ways: firstly, like a pencil sharpener to create precise tips on round rods or decorative tips for rustic furniture, and secondly, with a drill to produce precise dowels from square rods.
When using a drill, you only need square rods that are slightly larger (1 – 2 mm) in diameter than the desired round rod. For this, you need the mounting base offered here with a base adapter for the drill, to push the square rod through the clamped or screwed dowel cutter. The carbon steel blade in the zinc die-cast body of the dowel cutter can be precisely adjusted.
This tool is suitable for both hard and soft, dry or wet wood. The slightly curved blade is relatively easy to sharpen. This tool is only available in three sizes, and those only in precise inch measurements, with metric indications for orientation only: 3/8 in. (9.5 mm), 7/16 in. (11.1 mm), and 1/2 in. (12.7 mm).
