Product information
The Japanese manufacturer NANIWA, also known for its traditional water stones, uses diamond abrasives for the DIAMOND PRO series, which are embedded in a 1mm resin layer.
This layer is applied to a metal plate approximately 15mm thick, creating a „whetstone” that matches the form and size of typical Japanese water stones.
The resin bond securely holds the abrasive material, resulting in a diamond sharpening stone that maintains its sharpness over time while keeping its flatness. This is particularly useful for extensive sharpening work where you want to avoid the usual dressing of the stone, and where flatness is of special importance.
To use, simply lightly wet the surface with water (splash-and-go), and no slurry or clay-like residue is produced during the sharpening process. This is similar to what one would expect from normal water stones. The stones should be re-wetted occasionally during prolonged use.
These diamond stones can also be used with extremely hard steels.
An included rubbing stone helps to keep the surface clean and optimally sharp.
Incredibly Fast Sharpening/Grinding
Thanks to the use of ultra-hard diamond, these stones can sharpen any blade and even difficult-to-sharpen materials. Compared to conventional sharpening stones, the DIAMOND PRO stones allow for very effective sharpening. This is true for ceramic, stainless steel, carbon steel, and carbide.
