These stepped chisels are particularly suitable for the finishing of rabbets, tenons, etc. During such touch-up work, the tool is usually guided by hand or lightly struck with the palm. Therefore, the large round handle does without a ferrule. Nevertheless, the handle is stable enough to be struck with a mallet, if necessary.
