This gouge functions like an adze, but it is somewhat shorter and the sides of the blade taper towards the back. The cutting edge is completely straight, with a bevel only on the top side. The back is flat. Because the blade is relatively wide in relation to its length, this gouge is not only suitable for smoothing wooden surfaces but also very good for debarking. The slightly oiled ash handle is 300 mm long and, aside from a tapering in the front section, is 40 mm thick, making it suitable only for two-handed use. The total length is 460 mm.
