The Japanese whetstone manufacturer Suehiro from Niigata, known for the brands Suehiro and Cerax, is particularly popular with the second brand Cerax. Cerax stones are distinguished by their resistance to wear, unlike traditional Japanese waterstones.
We recommend not storing CERAX stones continuously in water; it is sufficient to soak the stone in water for 5 minutes before use. The surface of these stones can start to dissolve if stored in water continuously. This is not a disadvantage, as it indicates a low amount of binding agents: the fewer binding agents, the quicker fresh grains are released, making the grinding process more effective. „Baked” in an oven from aluminum oxide with the addition of binding and filling agents.
