Typically, for the screw connections in detachable bases of workbenches, either square nuts, recessed hex nuts, or short slotted barrel nuts are used. All these nuts make it difficult to assemble the connections without special tools or a lot of patience. However, the barrel nuts from BENCHCRAFTED are ideal for creating detachable connections.
The two long barrel nuts are designed for building detachable connections in very thick wooden parts, such as those found in end-grain strips on workbenches (of course, you can also use them for other purposes, such as in furniture construction). The barrel nuts are 82 mm (3-1/4 inch) long and fit easily into a hole with a diameter of 22.2 mm (7/8 inch). The center of the thread hole (9.5 mm, 3/8 inch) is 17.5 mm (11/16 inch) from the end of the nut. Included with these nuts are two screws with a diameter of 9.5 mm (3/8 inch) and a length of 127 mm (5 inch), as well as two matching washers.
Also included are four 9.5 × 127 mm (5 × 3/8 inch) Spax flat head screws with Torx 50 head for attaching the worktop to the base.
The wooden parts shown in the images are not included in the delivery.
