A regular compass is impractical for dimensions in the woodworking shop. A beam compass is much better suited here. Unlike the tips offered above, for which you need a wooden strip from your wood supply, the beam compass from Veritas is fully equipped.
When used with a rod, circles from 76 mm to 609 mm can be drawn. If the two additional rods are used, the diameter increases up to 1828 mm. The tips are made of stainless steel, so in addition to wood, softer metals can also be marked without problems. However, for wood, you will generally use the included pencil for marking.
The fine adjustment helps you achieve the greatest accuracy and ease of setting.
