With the Veritas Dowel Maker, you can create accurately sized dowels from diameters of 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) to 1 inch (25.4 mm) in increments of 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) and up to a length of 1200 mm from any desired wood. The first blade is used for rough sizing, and the second blade cuts to the exact size. Simply use square stock that should be approximately 3 mm larger in diameter than the dowel to be produced. The stock is inserted into the provided socket wrench adapter and rotated through the dowel maker with a drill. In principle, it is quite simple; you just need to ensure that you initially produce only a short piece of the dowel to adjust the received diameter, as the wood fibers align slightly differently after cutting, depending on the type of wood. Note: Only for dowels in inch sizes, unfortunately, there are no metric adapters available!
The basic set made of cast aluminum is included for the production of dowels with diameters of 1 inch (25.4 mm) and 15/16 inch (23.8 mm). Two micrometer screws allow precise adjustment of the blades. The cast body can either be screwed onto a tabletop or quickly mounted and dismounted in 19 mm holes using the Veritas mounting set. See the left column for the scope of delivery!
