Authentic Ryoba Series by Master Daizo Mitsukawa Blade length195mm

Product information

This saw is a professional saw made from high carbon steel, crafted in a traditional manner, forged, and through-hardened, making it resharpenable. The blade is intricately thinned in the middle.

Additionally, the blade thickens towards the handle, providing the saw with high stability without the need for a special blade holder. This elaborate manufacturing method makes the saw a unique piece.

The finely graduated blade lengths allow for ideal adaptation to various conditions and personal preferences. The handle lengths are each adjusted to the blade lengths.

Contrasting with the light wood of the handle, the dark wrapping is presented in a pleasing brown tone, complementing the positive functional overall impression in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Daizo Mitsukawa was born in 1961 and lives and works in Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture. He is one of the younger sawsmiths in Japan and continues the tradition of his father, Juntaro Mitsukawa.

In addition to traditional professional saws for everyday craft use, Mitsukawa produces a high-end line that is almost exclusively handmade. These saws are used in Japan for the restoration of significant shrines and temples. The use of an industrially manufactured saw is forbidden out of respect for the historical object.

Through his work, he makes an important contribution to preserving Japan’s cultural heritage. All saws from Mitsukawa are not suitable for beginners!

Why is not every Japanese saw suitable for beginners and trainees?

Most Japanese standard saws are made from band steel. The expensive professional saws are all through-hardened.
