This anvil is used for setting saw teeth with a hammer, as is traditional in Japan. Made from a piece of railway track. This anvil is slightly rounded and beveled at one short edge and one long edge according to the intended setting angle. The saw blade is laid flat on the anvil, with the teeth protruding over the beveled edge. With a light blow, every other tooth is worked on with the setting hammer. Then the blade is turned to work on the other half of the teeth in the same manner.
