Anaya nomi - Slick/Mortise Chisel with striking ferrule
24 mm FUJIKAWA
Available, delivery time: 2-3 days
Product information
The name is said to hark back to an obsolete profession, whose specialized task was to carve out deep mortise holes day in and day out, and to work on other joints in appropriately sized timbers during house construction.
For this purpose, a versatile tool was developed, impressive both in length and weight, which can be struck with a heavy hammer or wielded similarly to a striking axe.
It is the longest chisel to be struck in our range, with the angled design starting at the end of the mirror side, making the entire iron length of over 33 cm usable! In keeping with its application and dimensions, a sturdy, slightly barrel-shaped handle made of red oak has been fitted. To withstand hard blows, the handle features a generous steel ferrule.
Extremely rare and hardly available outside Japan. We received our first delivery only after almost three and a half years of waiting!
