Product information
These new aluminum cutting rulers from SHINWA protect the hand that is not holding the knife. A protective bar can be flipped up, creating a barrier with a height of 35 mm between the material being cut and the top edge. Even if you slip with the knife, the hand holding the ruler is well protected. With the protective bar folded down, the cutting ruler is easy to transport and store in a space-saving manner. The ends are protected with polyacetal caps.
The cutting edge features an insert made of stainless steel to protect the aluminum body from the cutter blade. Two wide rubber strips on the underside effectively prevent slipping. The opposite side serves as a ruler and has a metric scale along the edge. Additionally, behind the metric scale is a shaku scale, a traditional Japanese unit of length. Although this measure is no longer officially used in Japan, manufacturers of measuring instruments can’t resist adding the shaku scale. It is expected by traditional Japanese users. However, we in the Western world need not be bothered by it, as this measurement is only found in the „second” row. This note is simply informational, so you know about the peculiar unit of length additionally engraved on it.
