With these kits, you can build your own bench or smoothing plane, or even a small jack plane with a Norris mechanism for easy adjustment of the blade. You can customize the size and shape of the plane to meet your requirements. This way, you will have a practical tool that will bring you joy for many years to come.
Each kit includes a blade and an adjustment mechanism in Norris design, which allows you to easily adjust both the cutting depth and the lateral alignment of the blade, as well as a suitable steel housing for the adjustment mechanism. Also included are a knurled nut with a matching threaded insert and a brass pin to hold the cap. You have the choice between a blade that is 50.8 mm (2 inch) wide and 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) thick or one that is 57 mm (2-1/4 inch) wide and 4.8 mm (3/16 inch) thick. Both blades are available in A2, O1, or PM-V11 steel. All blades have a bevel with an angle of 25°. The kit does not include wood, allowing you to select the best wood for your purposes.
