User manual - Precision cutting box for 90° and 45° cuts

Draw the cutting line on the workpiece. Lower the side stop, which is at a 90° angle to the saw guide. This will fix the saw guide at the front edge (white arrow below). Insert the dummy blade between the guide plates and adjust them so that the dummy blade and the cutting line align (2 white arrows parallel to the workpiece above).

Hold the workpiece and saw guide firmly together with your left hand. Pull out the dummy blade and insert the handsaw with the saw blade. Japanese saws work on the pull stroke, so you do not need to apply pressure for a clean cut.

Instead of holding the saw guide with your left hand, you can also fix it with a clamp. This stabilizes the movements of the saw, allowing you to make the cut calmly without the risk of tearing.

Note: The dummy blade with a thickness of 0.6 mm is matched to the large saw blade with a length of 265 mm and a thickness of 0.6 mm. The small saw blade is intended for smaller tasks and does not require a dummy blade.

Setting for 45° cuts

Since this saw is delivered with two differently sized and differently thick saw blades, the spacers must be changed when switching. The spacer for the large saw is factory-installed (In the image at the top right, correct, it is the short one!) between the two guide plates. The spacer for the small saw (In the image at the bottom right) is visibly placed on the guide plates, so it is always ready for exchange. To exchange, simply loosen the two knurled screws, slide the other spacer between the plates, and place the currently unused one visibly on top.

To make precise 45° cuts, the miter box is converted with a few simple steps by mounting the 45° attachment. The 45° cuts can be oriented to the right or to the left.

Loosen the two black knurled screws. Do not unscrew them completely! Then slide out the saw blade guide, consisting of 2 guide plates, 2 spacers, and a screw nut plate with these two knurled screws from the side.

Now mount the 45° attachment. This is done with a single screw. The change from right to left is done by rotating the attachment.

Setting for wide workpieces

Now you just need to hang the complete saw blade guide. The screw nut plate is now on the inside of the attachment profile. The guide plates are now adjusted so that they sit approximately in the center of the surface of the attachment. Now you can tighten the two screws.

Mount the parallel stop for wide workpieces on the base unit. This is done quickly, as it only requires one screw.

You need a flat ruler or a straight strip as a reference surface for the parallel stop. First, mark the cutting line.

Insert the dummy blade into the saw guide and adjust the flat ruler and guide so that the dummy blade is exactly on the cutting line and the parallel stop is on the flat ruler. Secure the flat ruler with 2 clamps. First, run the entire cutting line with the dummy blade. This way, you can determine if everything is set up correctly.

Blade change

When everything is set up correctly, remove the dummy blade and insert the saw instead. This way, you can cut panels of any width cleanly and accurately.

Note: The point where the saw blade with the teeth engages the wood should ideally be directly below the guide; the individual saw strokes are then well guided and steady, resulting in a precise cut. If this point is in front of the guide, the saw blade may flutter and lead to an unclean cut.

The screw can be turned with the help of a coin.

Insert the saw blade until it stops with the screw loosened.

Tighten the screw.
