Lime wood is best suited for carving because it is soft, has a fine structure, and generally does not splinter. Additionally, when protected from the weather, it is long-lasting, as demonstrated by many well-preserved wood carvings from the Middle Ages. These pre-cut blocks especially make it easier for beginners to start their new hobby without complications.
