The SHUNRAN scraper plane is also equipped with a blade made of Blue Paper Steel (Aogami No. 1). In this plane, emphasis is placed on a very soft backing layer to make sharpening even easier. According to old Japanese tradition, the blade does not have a chipbreaker. The sole is slightly curved. The body is made of white oak. The wide, somewhat bulky and angular wooden handles practically invite you to ergonomically adjust them to your own hand using carving tools and a scraper.
