Rust erasers are soft-elastic abrasives made of silicon carbide with an elastic plastic bond. They are particularly well-suited for non-stainless Japanese knives!
These erasers are also perfectly suitable for all kinds of tools, such as the scaling of measurement tools, which then become readable again, or for rusty chisels. The advantage of the soft-elastically bonded abrasives lies in their adaptability to the material being worked on. Use with water, oil, or dry – best determined through trial and error.
For light surface rust, the fine grit is sufficient. In general, we recommend getting both grits, as you can use the fine grit to remove any grooves left by the coarser grit.
