From the Japanese manufacturer HASEGAWA come these high-quality cutting boards for use in the kitchen. The manufacturer previously produced materials for skis, specializing in the combination of a wooden core with a plastic coating.
What makes the cutting boards so special?
Weight
The boards are about 30% lighter than comparably sized plastic cutting boards. This makes them easier to handle (e.g., when washing by hand) and reduces the risk if accidentally dropped.
Rigidity
The wooden core prevents the board from warping or bending over a long period, even when washed at higher temperatures. The boards remain stable, are dishwasher safe, and stay straight, even when used with the separately available feet.
Gentle on Knife Edges
The plastic surface ensures that even delicate and very sharply honed edges remain sharp for as long as possible and do not dull against the board’s surface. This is often the case with wooden boards. Simple, soft cutting boards, on the other hand, tend to warp quickly, becoming crooked and buckling. The HASEGAWA cutting boards have enormous rigidity due to the wooden core and still protect the knife edges thanks to the plastic cutting surfaces.
Resource-Saving
The wooden core significantly reduces the amount of plastic used. Additionally, the manufacturer uses ground wood remnants for the core and does not cut down trees specifically for use in the cutting board.
