Slicks - "Sashi Nomi"

Slicks "Sashi Nomi"

OCHSENKOPF (Ox-head) slicks have been manufactured in Wuppertal since 1781. The name is synonymous with quality and functional beauty among German carpenters.

OurJapanese slick "Sashi Nomi" is a very precise tool for the ambitious craftsman.

New: A beautiful slick from MHG in Thuringen, Germany. This tool is a pleasure to look at, a pleasure to use. Quality all the way through.

MHG Special Slick with straight Blade
This large chisel functions like a slick, but is somewhat shorter than normal and the sides of the iron taper back toward the handle. The cutting edge is perfectly straight, with a bevel only on the face of the iron. The backside is flat. Because the iron is relatively broad in proportion to length, this slick is excellent for smoothing the surface of wood, and also works well for debarking. The handle, in lightly oiled ash wood, is 300 mm long. Apart from a narrowed section close to the iron, which aides in a firm grip, the handle is 40 mm in diameter and so suitable only for two-handed work. The total length is 460 mm.

MHG Timber Tool Slick
New here at Fine Tools: A beautiful slick from MHG in Thuringen, Germany. This tool is a pleasure to look at, a pleasure to use. Quality all the way through.

We were immediately enthralled the first time we saw the new MHG slick: it is wonderfully easy on the eyes with its nicely turned handle of carefully chosen ash, the superior finish of the blade forged with a new process, and the generally clean workmanship and close attention to detail. The handle comes only loosely pushed into the socket. The conical joint between the iron and handle is designed to become ever more solid through use and pressure.
