Chappell Framing Squares

Chappell Framing Squares, Steve Chappell Books

Steve Chappell's mission when he set out to develop this square was to make a solid, durable, and accurate square that would provide long-term value to the carpenter not only through many years of use, but also through expanded creativity. He hits the mark, and we believe you will agree once you’ve used the Chappell Universal Square.

Chappell Framing Squares

The new patented rafter tables give an extraordinary amount of information (length, angular and rotational), most of which has never been available on a framing square before.

For the first time ever on a framing square Steve Chappell has included tables for unequal pitched roofs. With all the same innovative information as the Equal Pitched Tables.

Also a first on a framing square are innovative Polygon Tables. These also include the same comprehensive amount of information as the equal pitched tables.

These squares are made of stainless steel with deep etched rulings and tables and will last a lifetime.

Once you have understood this square you can cut complex roof systems with only a pencil & the Chappell Universal Square and leave the calculator at home.

Chappell Framing Squares come in two Metric sizes: The Master Framer has a body 50 mm x 610 mm and a tongue of 40 mm x 460 mm. The smaller Traveler has a body 50 mm x 500 mm and a tongue of 40 mm x 300 mm. You also may check out Chappell Center Squares and the Chappell Gauging Square.

Metric Chappell Framing Square: The Traveler
The Traveler is a natural companion to the Master Framer. It is an exquisitely balanced slightly scaled down version with a smaller body and tongue. The Traveler is a fully functional framing square, and as the name implies, it is ideal when you are on the road as it will fit conveniently in your tool box. The size and weight make it a perfect layout tool that may soon become your favorite square for general layout such as laying out stair stringers, rafters and mortise and tenon joinery layout. Large enough for full scale roof framing layout, while small enough for detailed work, the Traveler may well prove to be one of the most popular framing squares to the modern carpenter. The Metric Traveler has all the same features as the large model.
