Veritas Bevel-Up Jointer Plane with Blade 57 mm wide
The Veritas low-angle jointer is the latest and largest member of the Veritas bevel-up bench plane family.
The bevel-up blade configuration results in a plane that is versatile and straightforward to use. The 12° bed angle, coupled with the 25° blade bevel, creates an effective cutting angle of 37°. Simply increasing the blade bevel results in higher cutting angles for improved performance in more difficult-grained woods.
The 2-1/4 inch (57 mm) wide blade is 3/16 inch (0.187 inch) (4.8 mm) thick and made of A2 tool steel hardened to Rc60-62. An adjustable throat plate allows a wide range of mouth adjustment. Our unique stop-screw retains mouth settings while preventing blade damage when removing and replacing blades.
The Veritas low-angle jointer fence enables you to shoot consistent and accurate square or bevelled edges with this bevel-up jointer. The 11 inch (279 mm) long anodized aluminum fence can be attached to either side of the plane with the brass thumbscrews provided; a set screw can be adjusted to square the fence to the sole.
As supplied, the 2 inch (51 mm) tall guiding face can be used to plane edges perfectly square to the face of your workpiece. It can also be used to shoot angles less than 90° when a bevelled wooden guide is attached to the inside face of the fence.
