Julio’s workbench is a very unusual model. The top plate was fashioned from a single plank whose cracks were bridged by wooden inserts glued into position without making any attempt to hide them. He used Japanese timber joints, also for the trestle that came from the same tree as the plate. There’s not a screw or dowel in sight. No wonder that Julio refers to the workbench as his "Japanese worktable", seeing it deviates in design and construction so strikingly from traditional workbenches. At work you will mostly see him using Japanese handtools.
For the construction of this workbench Julio used our heavy front vice no. 300653 with chain drive. This is what he had to say:
"I want to let you know I am very happy with the front vise, it works perfectly, it is marvellous and I think it is the best one could buy, really sturdy and unbeatable. It is also very good to install which is easy and intuitive, it doesn’t take too much time nor complicated operations, wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!"
