Wooden hand screw clamps (also called parallel clamps) These good-quality, low-price traditional carpenters' clamps can be used to glue up wedge-shaped or conical as well as regular, square-faced objects. The wooden arms of maple are cut flat and square, and there is very little "play" in the steel screws. One small disadvantage with this style of clamp is that all the adjustment comes through the screws -- one cannot simply move one of the cheeks up and down a bar and then use the screw to add pressure as with a f-clamp. This is not a big disadvantage though, when one looks at the versatility and price of these clamps. The clamps spread an even pressure over a very large area, when compared to c-clamps or f-clamps -- very important when working with materials like softwoods for instance that can be easily deformed. The screw threads run in opposite directions so it is easy to get an even pressure over the entire range of clamping angles.

Steel spring clamps These sturdy steel spring clamps provide stable and quick clamping pressure. The grips and jaws are covered in soft plastic. The clamps provide a relatively strong clamping pressure, about 15-16 kg., and are especially useful when one has only one hand free. Notice: the springs are very strong and frequent clamping and release action can lead to tiredness of your hand! Pinch Dogs These robust staples are an amazingly simple and efficient way to glue boards together for tabletops and other wide surfaces. The deeper you drive them, the stronger the clamping pressure becomes, producing a strong, long-lasting glue joint. With long boards, it is a good idea to use one or more bar clamps in the middle of the piece to keep clamping pressure constant along the glue line. More information ...
